There has been a shift in the spirit. Things are not, and will never be the same in many cases. God has done a separating, an acceleration in wisdom and understanding in many, and some have already been handed over to those desires of their own reprobate mind. With this, it is essential that we as a body of believers understand how to shift our own perspective so see through the eyes of the Lord. If we do not have eyes to see as He does, we could easily be swayed by the ways of the wicked world.
We have to focus on“whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, meditate on these things.” – Philippians 4:8.
Shifting perspective means turning our eyes to these things. As a prophetic life coach and christian counselor, I’ve observed that the lens through which we view our circumstances, ourselves, and even others can be a game-changer in our journey toward personal growth. It can literally make or break a person and change everything.
Imagine looking at a mountain from a distance. From far away, it might seem unimposing, perhaps even beautiful with its snow-capped peak. But stand right at the base, and it might seem insurmountable, its shadow imposing upon you. The mountain hasn’t changed, but your perspective has. Your eyes may be fixed on the obstacles. As long as you focus on the slippery rocks, deep holes, sketchy platforms, and maybe the lions, tigers, and bears that may or may not be lurking in the bushes, you will never get to the top. In order to get to the top, you must focus on the peaks and milestones of the journey.
Life can be quite like that mountain. Sometimes, we feel overwhelmed by challenges, not because they’re impossible to overcome, but simply because of our perspective on the issues and not the solutions.
Let’s dive a bit deeper and see how the wisdom from the Bible, especially in the New Living Translation (NLT), can guide us in shifting our perspectives.
Embrace the Bigger Picture
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
You might be familiar with this passage. It’s a favorite for many because it speaks of a hope that’s larger than our current circumstances. When you’re caught in the day-to-day grind or facing challenges, it’s easy to forget the broader picture, the grand tapestry of your life. Let’s not be too familiar that we aren’t able to gain the revelation that what you see in your circumstances today is not it for you. There is more. God has more for you. Don’t allow yourself to become so focus on your feet that you can’t see how far you have come and that there is so much more around you.
This scripture reminds us that there’s a greater plan at play. Life isn’t just about what’s happening now, but about where it’s taking us. By clinging to this promise, we can step back, zoom out, and understand that today’s hurdles are merely a blip on the radar of our expansive journey.
Cherish Growth in the Trials
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” – James 1:2-3
Let’s be real: nobody loves going through tough times. But James presents an unusual perspective here – viewing troubles as opportunities. How? Because it’s in these trials that our character is refined and our strength is built. Think of it like going to the gym. No pain, no gain, right?
When we shift our perspective from seeing challenges as mere inconveniences to viewing them as opportunities for growth, our attitude towards them changes. Instead of wishing them away, we harness them to become stronger, wiser, and more resilient.
Value the Invisible Over the Visible
“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18
In an age of instant gratification and an obsession with the tangible, this scripture serves as a refreshing reminder. While it’s natural to focus on what’s in front of us, there’s profound wisdom in appreciating the unseen.
Whether it’s the intangible qualities like love, joy, and peace or the belief in a future that’s yet to materialize, shifting our focus to the invisible helps us anchor our lives in lasting values. It enables us to prioritize long-term fulfillment over fleeting happiness.
Tying It All Together
Shifting perspective isn’t about dismissing our feelings or denying our realities. It’s about choosing to view life through a lens that promotes growth, hope, and lasting joy. It’s about seeing the silver lining, even when the clouds seem dark.
The mountain will always be there. Some days, its imposing height might intimidate you. On other days, its majestic beauty will inspire you. But remember, its essence doesn’t change; only your perspective does.
As you go about your week, I challenge you to recall these scriptures. Let them be your guiding light as you navigate the complexities of life. And remember, as your trusty life coach, I’m always here cheering you on. Every step of the way, let’s shift those perspectives together!

A Prayer for a Perspective Shift
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You today with hearts seeking clarity and minds yearning for peace. Lord, guide us as we navigate the mountains and valleys of life. Help us to see beyond the immediate, beyond the challenges, and into the vast landscape of Your love and purpose.
Grant us the wisdom to discern the lessons embedded in our trials and the courage to embrace them as opportunities for growth. As we walk this journey, shift our perspectives so that we may always focus on the eternal, the unseen, the true essence of Your promises.
May our eyes remain fixed on You, finding joy, hope, and purpose even in the midst of the storms. Refresh our spirits, renew our minds, and lead us to a deeper understanding and appreciation of Your grand tapestry for our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
